Through 2008, the Graduate School, in Collaboration with the W. Burghardt Turner Fellowship program awarded two doctoral graduates of Stony Brook Programs Turner Postdoctoral Faculty Traineeships. The postdoctoral program provided recent underrepresented Ph.D. recipients with teaching and research experience and the unique opportunity to collaborate with leading scholars in their field of specialization. They gained experience as teachers in their academic departments and worked with the Turner Fellowship program to support campus diversity.

Due to budgetary constraints, the Turner Post Doctoral Faculty Traineeship was suspended after the fall of 2008. We hope that in future years the University will reinstate this important program
