Templeton Lecture Series on Trust Now on Apple’s iTunes Stores STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Fall 2006 lecture series on Clarifying the Nature of Trust in Religion and Science have been made available on Apple’s iTunes Stores as part of the three-year Templeton Research Lectures grant funded by the John Templeton Foundation In 2006, Stony Brook University was awarded the grant for a project on “Trust: Prospects for Science and Religion.” Administered by Philadelphia-based Metanexus Institute, the main purpose of the grant is to promote constructive interdisciplinary dialogue, and unique research in the fields of theology, religious studies, and philosophy. iTunes Store (formerly known as the iTunes Music Store, or iTMS) allows the download of purchased digital music, music videos, television shows, iPod games and feature length films worldwide. The free lectures are available in podcast format on Apple’s iTunes stores and can be found on the Apple website. Stony Brook's Templeton Research Lectures consists of a three-year, evolving seminar/lecture series with numerous special events and outreach opportunities. Over the three years, they will be addressing questions that ask about what fosters, erodes or restores and its relation to several factors in society. The Trust Institute at Stony Brook is headed by Dr. Robert P. Crease, Chairman of the Department of Philosophy. The Institute will assist scholars in several different fields seek grants, host conferences, set up curricula, and develop out other initiatives into the theoretical and practical dimensions of trust. In November, the institute held a two-day conference on The Psychology of Trust and Feeling at the Stony Brook Manhattan Campus with keynote speakers James Hillman, the founder of Archetypal Psychology, and Eugene Gendlin, founder of Focusing and Experiential Psychotherapy.
