The Research Foundation of SUNY has administered the research funds obtained by SUNY campuses under a Memorandum of Understanding with the State University of New York for more than half a century. The principal RF administrative functions are decentralized to the largest research campuses under the direction of campus Operations Managers; at Stony Brook, this role is fulfilled by the Vice President for Research .
