Director’s Message The Department of Hispanic Languages and Literature offers graduate students the opportunity to conduct advanced research in Spanish Peninsular and Latin-American language, literature, and culture. Our goal, in terms of instructional philosophy, is to train a diverse body of graduates—traditionally, we have recruited students from many national and ethnic backgrounds—to become accomplished scholars and professors able to function effectively and successfully at any level of higher education.
